Why do humans constantly strive for more? This urge reminded me of moths’ pursuit of light - offe-ring a way to illuminate this complex theme through a simple image.
Too Close
A 3D-Animated Short Film About the Pursuit of More
Why do we always want more? More knowledge, more wealth, more success? All without conside-
ring others or possible consequences. In my 3D-animated short flm, I explore this topic by using a
parable. I compare the human drive for more with the instinct of moths, which feel drawn to the light - the
supposed salvation - without realizing that contact with the light might end lethal.
The story focuses on a single character, who feels the urge to approach a mysterious light in the
distance, without knowing its origin, without seeing the consequences and without noticing war-
nings along her journey that she should stop continuing further.
With the short flm, I aim to illuminate a complex issue through a simple metaphor, the blind pursuit
of “more,” symbolized by the light. It is meant as a refection on familiar social patterns and the
contemplation of whether one might not instead be content with what one has and learn to appre-
ciate exactly those things.
