The process of growing up is a topic that affects us all, yet you rarely encounter open communication about the experiences and challenges we face on our way to becoming “grown up”. However, this kind of openness may be the key to helping young adults soothe, assess, or even prevent newly emerging growing pains—and to avoid feeling alone with their initial feeling of being overwhelmed. In my opinion, design and illustration are wonderful tools that allow us to actively shape the world around us. That is why, for my bachelor project, I made it my goal to create an alternative to the current lack of conversations surrounding these topics. To achieve this, I conducted personal and multifaceted interviews with grown-ups as well as people who are still in the midst of growing up. Interviewees of diferent generations, circumstances, and mindsets were asked about the insights and experiences they have gathered throughout their individual processes of growing up. These were then compiled and made accessible within an illustrated magazine. With this magazine, I hope to support readers by sharing stories that they can relate to as well as encourage a benefcial exchange of knowledge and experiences in the future.
